WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Temperatures are chilly this morning, but will get back to slightly above-average values in the afternoon. The skies will become cloudier as the day passes, making for a gloomy evening only lit up by the various Christmas decorations on our homes. After an uneventful day, rain will return to the forecast on Tuesday morning. This group of showers will blow through the region and slowly dissipates tomorrow afternoon and evening before completely drying up overnight. If you are travelling tomorrow, make sure to move a bit slower and to wear and pack your rain gear. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Christmas Eve will be a calmer day with mostly cloudy skies and dry conditions, making for a nice travel day if you are heading somewhere for the holiday. Temperatures will also be in the 50s this afternoon and only dropping into the 40s overnight, making for a balmy holiday in general. Unfortunately, dry conditions come to an end right after Santa leaves the region. This will coin the term “Wet Christmas” as rain will continue to fall from the morning onwards, only clearing out for a bit overnight. The rainy pattern continues at the end of the week as another low-pressure system passes through the region Friday morning. An umbrella might be a good last-minute stocking stuffer if you are looking for ideas.

Heading into the weekend, we’ll have some lingering showers before things dry up Saturday afternoon. Once again, however, this break is short-lived. A cold front will be approaching from the Midwest overnight and reaching our area by Sunday afternoon, yet again dropping more rainfall. While most rainfall over this next week will be beneficial, there may be some risk for ponding water due to multiple days of precipitation in a row. After the front passes, we could see a change from rain to snow overnight Sunday into early next week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
