WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today is the first day of Meteorological Spring! Above is a graphic on what to expect through the month of March to kick off the Spring season.
Today has been a mix of cloudy skies and occasional rain and snow, which will be clearing out through the night tonight. Tomorrow is looking much better in every way besides the temperature; sunny skies will dominate but with a high of only 34°. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
NEXT WEEK’S WEATHER:Â Monday will start our week off pretty nicely with mostly sunny skies and temperatures rising into the mid-40s. We will then see clouds increasing through the day on Tuesday before storms start to come into the area overnight into Wednesday.
These storms have the potential to cause wind damage, including power outages, and flooding will be possible in the area, especially low-lying areas. We advise preparation for the severe weather season in general and this specific event as soon as possible in case it does affect you.
Temperatures dive on Thursday, causing some snow showers on Thursday that may also linger into Friday morning. Accumulation is possible, especially at higher elevations. Friday will warm back into milder temperatures and make for a great day after the possibly lingering snow in the morning. Next Saturday will see possible morning snow and rain before a high pressure comes through and knocks it away.
RECORD-BREAKING FEBRUARY RAIN:Â Southern West Virginia has seen its rainiest February on record this past month. The chart below shows how this February ranks against the rest. Several cities broke their rainfall records for rainfall in February, including Lewisburg, which smashed their previous record with 9.62″ of precipitation last month.
