Another day, another chance for severe storms

The chance for strong to severe storms is in the forecast once again this afternoon as a series of lows continues to push through the Midwest and Ohio Valley, attached to a stalled out frontal boundary. Some of the storms tonight will be on the strong side and some of them could even be severe. As was the case the last few times that we’ve had severe weather probabilities, damaging winds are the main threat.
Large hail is also possible, but on the good side, the threat for tornadoes is small. We’ll be tracking all threats tonight – and beyond. The chances for severe weather will continue to be in the forecast for the next several days as the weather continues to be active. More showers and storms will put a bit of a damper on the weekend plans and chances for rain are in the entire extended forecast. Luckily, we’ve been fairly dry recently and the amounts of rain do not look to be all that high unless you’re underneath one of the storms that pops up.
As for temperatures, they won’t be quite as consistent as the rain chances. By Sunday, we’ll find ourselves on the cooler side of this battle of the air masses, and highs will only top out in the lower to middle 60s. But the cooler air doesn’t stick around too long, and by Monday we’ll be back in the upper 60s. There isn’t any arctic air poised to invade the area, but Sunday’s forecasted high is nearly 10 degrees below the normal. A light jacket might even come in handy on Sunday morning, as lows will be in the middle 40s, rising gradually as we start the next work week.
