Howdy folks and happy Sunday! It’s shaping up to be a warm and pleasant week across southern West Virginia, with temperatures trending well above average for the next several days. If you’re a fan of cooler weather, Monday will be your last chance to enjoy near-normal conditions before the heat takes over.
Starting Tuesday and continuing through Friday, high temperatures will climb into the low to mid-80s, with Wednesday and Thursday expected to be the hottest days of the week. Forecast models indicate temperatures could run nearly 10 degrees above average during this stretch, coming close to record territory for early June. While official records may not be broken, it will undoubtedly feel unseasonably warm.
The good news? Sunshine will dominate through most of the work week, providing several beautiful days to enjoy the outdoors. However, changes arrive by Thursday evening as our next weather system approaches. Expect increasing cloud cover followed by scattered rain chances starting Friday and continuing through the weekend.
Along with the return of rain, temperatures will gradually cool back down to more seasonable levels by the weekend.
We’ll keep you updated all week on any forecast changes right here on WOAY. Stay hydrated and don’t forget the sunscreen as the heat ramps up this week!
