WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Another foggy morning is upon us. Most of the region is dealing with patches of dense fog affecting the morning commute. Drive carefully and use your low beams when driving through the fog. Fog will dissipate later this morning, revealing partly sunny skies. Conditions will remain calmer for a few more hours after the fog fades, but we are not out of the woods yet.
Later in the afternoon, isolated thunderstorms will begin forming. Most of the action will be to our east in Virginia, but a few storms may slide into the viewing area. Our eastern counties are most likely to experience a storm or two. Even our western counties have a chance for stormy conditions this evening. Depending on how much sun we get, a gusty storm may develop. However, storms are expected to remain weaker than yesterday. Severe weather is expected to our south and east, but not within the viewing area. Storms will fade after sunset, completely leaving the region overnight.
This weekend is trending to become drier. A couple of models indicate weak signals for a stray shower or two, but the incoming air mass is dry and more stable. As a result, mostly sunny skies will prevail. Temperatures will reach into the mid-80s during the afternoon and evening, bringing us back to summer. It will be a great time to get out and enjoy the weather. Be sure to stay hydrated and use sun protection.
These nicer conditions last through the first half of next week. High pressure will remain in the region, which allows drier and warmer conditions to continue. Temperatures will rise into the upper 80s next week, bringing back heat we have not seen in a while. It will be nice weather to get out and enjoy, but the lingering heat may cause some issues for sensitive groups. Rain chances may return Thursday, but it is not a certainty.
