The severe weather outlook for today is not including much of our area, it clips extreme northwestern Nicholas County in a level 1/5 risk. There could still be enough energy in the atmosphere though to produce some lightning and thunder and maybe gusty winds as the cold front sweeps through very early Sunday.

The majority of the rain should fall in between 1-8 AM Sunday. Once we head into the time frame after 12PM, most of the rain should be moving out of our area by then. So while a soggy start to Easter Sunday is likely, a drier back half of Easter Sunday also appears likely.

This also appears to be a soaking rain, as the European model shows most of our area sitting in between a half-inch and an inch of rain. That’s good and bad for us: Bad because it happens to fall on Easter when everyone wants to do things outside, but good because we are trending dry on the drought monitor. So this rain is needed for our area and helps us avoid drought potential.

Looking at the full 7 day forecast, you can see once the cold front comes through early Sunday, we remain dry through the next 7 days. Rain looks very unlikely Monday-Saturday and temperatures behind the cold front will be cooler with lows into the 20’s for some of us. But a steady warm-up follows that into late week!
