Young woman from Mt. Hope in need of kidney

MT. HOPE, WV (WOAY) – Kristina Johnson is only 31 years old and has recently been put on the kidney transplant list.

She’s had diabetes since she was little and has had a series of health issues since including anemia, high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Because of her late diagnosis of diabetes, her A1C level was triple the normal percentage when she was finally diagnosed setting her up for kidney failure.

Three years ago she was put on dialysis and has had to get treatment three days a week since. Now, as the situation grows more dire, she needs a transplant.

“It would give me my life back, and I would be able to complete my dreams that I’ve been wanting to do,” Johnson said. “Traveling and having a family and be here longer for my family instead of such a short life span.”

Johnson has an O negative blood type and her number is 304-207-3034 and is hoping to find a donor in the next few months.
