Wonderful Weather Continues

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Morning temperatures are on the lower side once again, so a light jacket might be warranted during the morning commute. However, sunny skies will help bring temperatures up quickly. After sitting in the upper 40s early this morning, most places will reach the 70s by noon and peak around 80 degrees this afternoon. Humidity will stay on the lower side, leading to comfortable conditions despite warmer temperatures. If you are planning on being outside for an extended period, make sure you have sun protection and plenty of water. It is another “chamber of commerce” weather day, so take the opportunity to enjoy it if you can. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest:

The high-pressure system in our area will linger around, slowly moving to the southeast over the next couple of days. As a result, conditions will remain mostly sunny and warm for both Friday and Saturday. Afternoon temperatures will reach the low to mid-80s on both days, and humidity will stay relatively low. If you have outdoor plans during this stretch, it will be nearly perfect.

On Saturday, high pressure will retreat to the east, allowing some rain to move into the northeast. If you are travelling to Morgantown or Wheeling for the weekend, you will want to prepare for some rain on both Saturday and Sunday. However, showers and storms are not expected to move into southern West Virginia on Saturday. While we will miss out on some much-needed rain, it will be nice to stay sunny and dry for at least one day this weekend.

Rain will return to the region on Sunday in the form of scattered showers and thunderstorms. The front to our west will move into the region in the morning, bringing much-needed rain. Rainfall will last through the day and continue into Monday, but another high-pressure center may reduce the spread and amount of rain next week. The trend for a high-pressure system parking in New England is increasing, which would result in less activity. This center would stick around for the first half of the week.
