WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): This morning has been the best of the week by far, with temperatures sitting in the 40s for most. The Greenbrier Valley and Pocahontas County are a bit cooler, but will eventually catch up with the rest of the region this afternoon. Mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-70s will keep us nice and cozy, making for a great day at the end of the traditional work week. The only catch for today is the same we’ve had all week; the fire risk is enhanced once again. Please avoid all kinds of burning during this dry streak, which will continue into next week. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
The slight drizzle chance mentioned in the title of this article is showing up early tomorrow morning. While these chances are on the lower end, a few spots may see a drizzle originating from the Midwest. The most likely spot is Nicholas County, but these chances hover around 10% or so before dissipating later in the morning. Any rain that falls will not be impactful unless you are trying to keep something 100% dry outside. After the brief risk of drizzle fades, we return to dry conditions for the rest of the weekend. Temperatures will be closing in on 80 degrees by Sunday afternoon.

Next week, there is another chance for some light rain between Monday and Tuesday. Models are currently trending towards Monday, but a few are pushing it back to early Tuesday. Regardless of timing, this brief bout of light showers will do little to relieve the dry conditions we’ve had for the last week or so. Outside of the low-end rain chances, we will remain dry and warm through most of the week. On Wednesday, a few daily record high temperatures may fall across the region. We will continue to keep an eye out for any relief on the way, but it may take a bit longer to receive it. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
