Wonderful Election Day; Storms Tomorrow

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The morning has been chilly thus far, so you will need a jacket for the commute. However, temperatures will rise into the 60s later this morning and stay milder through the afternoon. Skies will remain sunny through the day, helping temperatures reach the upper 60s and lower 70s this evening. This will be another one of those days where you need the heat this morning and the air conditioning this evening. Skies remain clear throughout the night, but showers and storms will return tomorrow, bringing us some needed rain. Here’s the latest from Meteorologist Christian Boteler:

While tomorrow morning will be unassuming, showers and storms start to move in during and after the morning commute. This low-pressure system will move through the northeastern states, bringing a cold front into the region. Showers and storms become widespread for a time, and a few within the system have the potential to become strong. The Storm Prediction Center has put a Marginal Risk bullseye on our area due to the potential for isolated thunderstorms.

The only parameter for potentially severe storms would be damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour. Hail and tornadic activity are not expected with this incoming system. If severe weather develops, we are only expecting a rogue storm or two to carry warnings. These storms will last through the evening before weakening overnight. However, the rain will linger as isolated showers until around sunrise before drying out completely.

After these storms and showers leave, conditions will be cool and dry on Thursday. The dry conditions will continue through Friday, and temperatures will stay cooler until Friday afternoon. Patchy frost is likely in our region on Friday morning as temperatures drop into the 30s and 40s. The cooler weather will not last, however, as temperatures return to the upper 60s and skies remain sunny on Friday afternoon.

This weekend starts with scattered thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and evening, bringing in more beneficial rain into our viewing area. After these showers leave Saturday night, the rest of the extended forecast remains hot and dry. Sunday and Monday are expected to bring elevated fire risk into the region due to these conditions. Make sure to avoid all forms of burning, as we are still in the spring fire season until the end of the month. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
