Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) A woman is facing charges following a traffic stop in Fayette County.
According to a criminal complaint, on July 3 around 8:00 p.m Patrolmen First Class (Pfc) Gunnoe and Hannigan noticed a U-Haul box truck swerving on Route 16/Beckwith Road.
Authorities pulled over the driver, identified as 50-year-old Jeanie Gail Fleshman, and noted she was shaking and taking rapid, deep breaths.
Officers spoke with the vehicle’s passenger, who reportedly seemed increasingly nervous and unable to maintain eye contact with them.
Fleshman told authorities she and the passenger were coming from Beckley and were headed to her aunt’s house in Fayetteville.
Officers asked Fleshman if there were any drugs in the vehicle, to which she replied there were not and agreed to allow them to search the truck.
Before the search, authorities spoke with the passenger again, who confirmed that they were leaving Beckley, but they were not headed to any particular destination and were just riding around.
Police asked the passenger if they were going to visit Fleshman’s aunt in Fayetteville, and the passenger said they were not.
Fayette County Sheriff Deputy Wickline and his K9 arrived on the scene to conduct a free air sniff of the truck, which resulted in a positive indication of narcotics in the vehicle.
Officers searched the vehicle further and discovered a clear bag containing a white powdery substance suspected to be fentanyl, weighing 7.22 grams, and a small vial of suspected heroin in a purse.
Fleshman was then transported to the Fayetteville Police Department for processing.
She awaits further court proceedings in Southern Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash bail, charged with possession with intent to deliver and reckless driving.
