Winter Returns; Spring Slowly Comes Back

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Snow has been falling since yesterday afternoon, and it does not stop until later this evening. Make sure to take some extra time this morning to clear off the car and bundle up. Roads will be slick with black ice and snow, so please drive carefully this morning. Many schools in the viewing area have already closed due to the icy conditions. Snow will come in scattered bunches before finally fading tonight, though the cold will stick around for another night. Temperatures tomorrow morning will dip into the teens, and wind chills will likely be worse. Thankfully, we will be above freezing once again by Wednesday afternoon. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

The cold starts to fade away for the second half of the week, but chances of rain remain in the forecast for Thursday and Friday. These chances will both be in the evening and nighttime hours, bringing scattered showers into the region. These will bring lighter rain, making for damp but otherwise calm nights. However, there are some fail conditions for these upcoming chances. If these bunches of showers trend north, they may miss us completely. Some models are trending that way, while others keep showers in our region. For now, we are expecting some rainy activity both Thursday and Friday.

This weekend will be much better, and Spring will be coming back to the region just after the Equinox on Friday. On Saturday, temperatures will end up in the mid 60s and skies will be partly cloudy, making for a wonderful start. Sunday will be much of the same until the evening when cloud cover starts to increase. From there, the chance for rain comes back into the forecast. Showers are expected to move through overnight and early Monday morning before conditions calm down to start the next work week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
