Winter is Here; Snowy Weather to Come

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Snow flurries linger across the region with some showers in the northeastern mountains this morning, but will quickly clear up by noon. Temperatures stay chilly through the day, not getting past 30 degrees in most areas. If you are going out shopping for Black Friday deals, you will want to bundle up for the treks between stores. The weather for tonight into Saturday morning will be clear but bring the chilliest temperatures we’ll see for the next week or so. However, the clear weather will not last through the weekend. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

After the clearer day on Saturday, the next round of winter weather will pass through. Ice and snow will start off the morning, making roads slick and travel complicated to end the weekend. The ice and snow will switch over to rain across the region this afternoon before dissipating overnight. Some snow may last in the northeastern mountains, but will slowly fade by morning. Overall accumulation is trending around 1-3″ in the mountains with locally higher amounts, while the rest of the region likely sees a dusting. Monday will be a nice break to start the work week, though chilly temperatures will stick around.

Tuesday brings in yet another round of winter weather as another low-pressure system plowing through. Ice and snow will once again start in the morning, switching to rain in the afternoon. However, instead of fading out for most of the region, snow will become widespread as the sun sets. These snow showers will likely linger through the night, finally fading Wednesday morning. There is more moisture for this system to work with, and we could see more snow Tuesday than on Sunday. The region will clear up for the middle of the work week after snow fades early Wednesday.
