Wet Weather Continues; Light at the end of the Tunnel

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The morning has started with patchy fog across the region and cloudy skies with a few scattered showers to the south, but we’ll see more rain across the region as the day goes on. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

With the incoming rain today, some areas may face ponding of water and flooding due to the heavy rain yesterday. Localized heavy rain is expected, which may cause those issues. Below is the three hour flash flood guidance as of 7:32 AM. Most areas would need around an inch to an inch and a half of rain within 3 hours to face flash flooding concerns.

Tomorrow will be drier, but scattered showers and storms will still be developing in the afternoon. With the sun peaking out on Thursday with partly cloudy skies, some storms may carry strong winds and small hail. However, we’ll also have less rainfall as a result of the dry break overnight into the morning Thursday.

Both tomorrow and Friday show risks for isolated severe thunderstorms as the second disturbance of the week comes through. These storms will weaken a bit from the Midwest, which is good news for us, but will still be strong to severe in some places. Saturday will be the last day of rain and storms as the disturbance starts to drift away to the east.

Sunday and the start of the work week next week will be mostly dry, with a small chance of a pop-up shower or two during that period. This is a welcome change, as some areas have already seen flash flooding and many people are tired of the rain. However, this rainfall has been mostly beneficial across the region, especially as growing season has opened. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
