West Virginia (WOAY)- West Virginia’s Office of Environmental Health Services is offering free radon testing kits for you to test for radioactive gas in your home.
Radon is an invisible, odorless gas that transfers from soil and collects in enclosed spaces.
The gas is harmful when inhaled, listed as the number two cause of lung cancer in the United States, and estimated to be the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.
Tests show this radioactive gas is present in high levels in several zones throughout the mountain state.
West Virginia ranks tenth in the U.S. for the highest radon levels.
