West Virginia Public Service Commission reschedules hearing to decide on future of the Armstrong Public Service District

Montgomery, WV (WOAY) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) has rescheduled a hearing into Armstrong Public Service District’s future after it ruled the system is a distressed utility.

The hearing, originally set for September 5, will determine how the Armstrong utility can be improved and whether another entity should acquire the system.

The PSC ruled on July 31 that Armstrong’s 825-customer sewer system has substantial problems related to finances, decrepit infrastructure, and management.

Kanawha Falls Public Service District petitioned to acquire Armstrong, but the PSC rejected the offer, stating the Kanawha Falls District’s distressed state and the commission’s lack of confidence.

The new meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 11, at 10:00 am at Montgomery city hall.
