West Virginia (WOAY)-A new West Virginia-born brand is using a simple T-shirt to inspire a big message, one billion acts of human connection.
The social-impact brand 1BillionHugs has launched pre-orders for its “Free Hugs” T-shirt.
The eco-friendly line promotes compassion, kindness, and meaningful conversation.
The shirts are produced in partnership with Mountain Mindful, an Appalachian social enterprise that helps create job opportunities for people facing employment barriers.
Ten percent of profits will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Ohio-West Virginia Youth Leadership Association.
Founder Reed Byers says each shirt is not an expectation but an invitation to connect.
The movement is all about encouraging safe, consent-based interactions in a time when many are feeling isolated.
The campaign encourages people to wear the shirts at schools, churches, workplaces, and community events as conversation starters to spark real connections.
Pre-orders are open now at 1billionhugs.com.
Each shirt costs $34.
