Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) The City of Beckley and community partners will celebrate the 33rd annual Kids Classic Festival during the week of September 7th through the 12th.
The festival will kick off at 6 on Labor Day evening with the home run derby at Beckley Little League. Registration begins at 5:30, and ages 8 and above can participate for five dollars. Cash prizes and medals will be awarded in several age categories.
The rest of the week includes many other fun and affordable opportunities for kids, including:
- Tuesday – Saturday, one free game of Bowling at Leisure Lanes when accompanied by a paying adult, 10 am to 9 pm. Call 304-253-7328 for lane availability.
- Tuesday 9/8 – LEGO building contest at the Raleigh County Public Library for ages 6-12 from 4 – 6 pm.
- Wednesday 9/9 – Open house with free activities in the gym at the Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center, 2871 Robert C Byrd Dr., from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
- Thursday 9/10 – Painting Party at Pottery Place, $10, 5 pm. Pre-register in person or call 304-253-8777.
- Friday 9/11 – An evening at the Youth Museum & Exhibition Coal Mine, featuring a magic show, balloon animals, a Touch a Truck exhibit, and discounted $5 admission to the Youth Museum & mine tours.
- Saturday 9/12 – Street Fair & Parade 10 am – 2 pm, with booths, games, activities, and food vendors along Main, Fayette, Federal Plaza, and Shoemaker Square.

- Beckley Fire Dept. Junior Firefighters Challenge, beside Fayette St. courthouse.
- United Bank Fun Fall Festivities, with games, prizes, and inflatables for $5.
