FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. (WOAY) – Waterstone outdoors, located just a stones throw from the new river gorge national park is rewarding those in the area who get outside this year.
By hiking only three trails per month, you are entitled to some special treatment at your next visit.
“You get 10% off your purchase plus a free coffee drink, so it’s a good way to find a friend, get out there, and take a Sunday afternoon or any free time you have and just take a walk in the woods,” Waterstone owner, Holly Fussell, said.
The New River Gorge is filled with countless miles of hiking trails. Some of the most popular hikes in the area include the Long Point trail, the Kaymoor Miners Trail, and the beloved Endless Wall Trail.
To help kick off the trail challenge, Waterstone Outdoors has partnered with Active Southern West Virginia. To make it easier to join in on the fun, ASWV will be hosting a group hike every month with absolutely no cost to join.
While the new river gorge is an area known for its high intensity sports such as whitewater rafting and rock climbing, if those aren’t your speed, hiking might be a place to start.
“Essentially it’s just getting outside, putting on a pair of comfortable shoes and going for a walk, an the gorge gives us a lot of resources that are often times underutilized,” Fussell said.
Waterstone Outdoors is accepting photos from the trailhead, in app trackers and mid-hike photos to show what hikes you have been on.
Next time you are on the trail don’t forget to snap a picture and get rewarded for your efforts.
