PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – A Princeton High School resource officer has been indicted by a Mercer County grand jury on charges of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian, or person in a position of trust and gross neglect of a child creating a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.
According to an indictment, Christopher Chad Butler is an officer with the Princeton Police Department who was responsible for school security at Princeton Senior High. The indictment alleges that he engaged and attempted to engage in sexual exploitation, sexual intrusion, or sexual contact with a student.
The indictment further alleges that Butler allowed a child to brandish a pistol, threatening herself and any other child present.
Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney Justin R. St. Clair is the special prosecuting attorney in this case to avoid a conflict of interest.
