Volunteer firefighters receives grant funding

BEAVER, WV (WOAY) – Gov. Justice has provided more than $4.1 million to help volunteer firefighters.

During Wednesday’s briefing, Gov Justice announced that he and his team have found a way to provide 10 thousand dollars in grant funding directly to each of the 419 volunteer fire departments across West Virginia.

“We just found out about the $10,000 grant that the governor was issuing to all volunteer fire departments. That could really go a long way, certainly that could help with the day-to-day operations of the station,” said Beaver Volunteer Fire Department, Public Information Officer Will Davis. “We do have the levy funds, But the levy funds don’t cover everything, there are certain stimulation, right now we don’t know any being put forth by the governor. This is great it could help cover fluid cost, insurance and new gear and new tools for the fire trucks.”

In total, the Governor’s initiative will provide $4.19 million to help volunteer firefighters in all corners of the Mountain State.
