WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): A warming pattern is underway and will be followed by a significant midweek frontal passage.
SHORT-TERM: Clear skies are expected overnight and Tuesday will be much warmer and turning more humid in the evening.
WEDNESDAY: We have identified two different time periods where severe weather has a good probability (40-80% chance) to occur. The first period is 4-8 a.m. when the warm front pushes through. Heavy downpours will result in ponding of water on roads and a tornado is possible thanks to the spin in the atmosphere. Make sure you have a way to receive weather alerts during the overnight (Tues into early Wed).
The second time period is 3-7 p.m. A likely line of gusty thunderstorms will precede a cold front. Top wind gusts of 40 mph appear likely and will trigger a few downed limbs and scattered power outages.
Arthritis sufferers will start to feel additional aches and pains Tuesday, with the biggest pressure drop (most severe aches) occurring on Wednesday. A few migraine headaches will even come on during this period.
SNOW: The rain will transition to snow at 9 p.m. Wednesday and the snow showers will end at 2 p.m. Thursday. Most spots west of Route 219 will see 0.5-1.5″ of snow, however, 2-4″ of snow is expected in western Greenbrier and Pocahontas County. Winter Weather Advisories are expected for western Greenbrier and Pocahontas County for late Wednesday into Thursday.
FLASH FREEZE: The elevated wind should prevent a flash freeze from occurring, except for sheltered spots where mountain ridges surround properties.
TEMPERATURES: The warmest day will be Wednesday with highs approaching 65 degrees by 1 p.m. Expect temperatures to drop all the way into the 20s by Thursday morning (40 degree temperature drop from 1 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday).
