University of Charleston celebrates 2025 Spring Commencement

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – The University of Charleston preparing for 2025 spring commencement ceremonies this weekend.

On Saturday April 26, 2025, undergraduate students will be recognized at 10:00 a.m., followed by graduate students at 1:00 p.m. at the H. Bernard Wehrle Athletic Arena on the Charleston Campus.

According to a media release from the University of Charleston, the event features two keynote speakers. West Virginia’s first James Beard Award winner, Chef Paul Smith will be the keynote for the undergraduate ceremony.  Brigadier General (Ret.) Michaelle Munger-Dulong, the first female general officer in the history of the West Virginia Army National Guard will be speaking at the graduate ceremony. Both speakers will also be awarded honorary degrees from the university.

The ceremony will celebrate a significant Milestone for 382 graduates—260 undergraduates and 122 graduate students—representing UC’s Charleston, Beckley, and online campuses, and its five distinct schools: the School of Arts & Sciences, School of Health Sciences, School of Business, School of Leadership, and the School of Pharmacy.
