Investigation into Nicholas County shooting leads to 2 arrests

Nicholas County, WV (WOAY) – Three people were taken into custody Thursday on child neglect charges During a shooting investigation in Nicholas County.

According to a media release from the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department, 28-year-old Bobby J. Moore, 32-year-old Caroline A. Stewart, and 58-year-old Connie S. Moore, were all charged with felony child neglect during an investigation into a shooting that took place on Thursday morning.

Deputies say a man was shot at a home in the 22000 block of Old Turnpike Road in the Belva, W.Va., area of Nicholas County. During an investigation at the home, deputies discovered unlivable conditions for children, which led to the arrests.

The victim in the shooting was taken to a Charleston hospital and treated for unknown injuries. It’s unclear who, if anyone, was charged in the shooting.

No details were provided on how many children were in the home.
