The weekend ahead: nicer weather

After a cold and wet work week around southern West Virginia, the weather will be improving as the weekend starts. It’s certainly going to be a cold start to things (temperatures are expected to be in the middle to upper 30s in most areas), but by Saturday afternoon, we’ll top out in the lower to middle 50s with a mix of sun and clouds. A weak upper-level disturbance will approach the area from the west and will trigger a few showers Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The showers will be scattered, and any rain totals will be light.
Once the showers are gone, Sunday will be similar to Saturday in terms of temperatures and cloud cover.
For now, once that disturbance is gone, the rest of the extended forecast looks like it will be dry. Even better news for people who don’t like the cool temperatures is that it will be warming up a bit. The upper air pattern flattens out a bit, and temperatures rebound. On Wednesday, highs will reach the 60s for the first time since October 26th, marking nine days.
