Mild and Rainy Days; More This Weekend

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today is yet another day of gloomy and damp weather, so make sure to have the rain gear ready today. The stationary front that has set up is continuing to drop showers and potentially thunderstorms into the region. A Flood Watch remains in effect for Fayette, Nicholas, and Pocahontas counties until 1 PM today. Fog is also setting up this morning, prompting the National Weather service to issue a Dense Fog Advisory for Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas counties until 9 AM this morning. The rest of the week will be similar as temperatures rise and rain continues to fall in the region. Tomorrow, the region will break 70 degrees for the first time this year, and the warm temperatures will continue through the weekend. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the full forecast below:

Heading towards the end of the week, showers and storms remain scattered as the stationary front slowly moves away from the region. Rain will gradually come to an end by Friday night, making room for a brief break between Friday night and Saturday morning. Temperatures remain mild and conditions will be damp, but Saturday morning may be the best time this weekend to do much of anything. Rain returns Saturday afternoon and beyond as the next front moves through the region. This front will bring more widespread rain in the form of showers and thunderstorms, making for an overall more impactful event for the region. Storms and showers continue through all of Sunday, resuming the streak of bad weekend weather that we broke last weekend.

The weekend front will leave on Sunday, but may leave some lingering showers behind for Monday morning. We are trending towards a calmer start next week, but rain comes back into the forecast as early as Tuesday. Showers will come in a bunch just ahead of the next cold front. While we likely won’t see that front until Wednesday, we are monitoring the chance for showers and storms Tuesday afternoon and beyond. While all of this activity is happening, temperatures will stay in the upper 60s and lower 70s in the region. This will continue March’s warm start. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
