OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) –Â Showers and storms rumbled through the region this afternoon and early evening, associated with a weak cool front. Some of the storms were on the strong side, with gusty winds and small hail. Only one was severe, according to the National Weather Service, and that was in Wyoming and McDowell Counties. As the evening progressed, the showers ended and the skies cleared. Behind the front, high pressure over the Great Lakes takes over and sends in some cool air from the north, allowing temperatures to cool off tonight to a level where you might consider a jacket if you’re heading out to early morning plans. Lows will be hovering around the 50-degree mark.

Tomorrow, the stretch of pleasant weather begins. Highs tomorrow will be in the lower to middle 70s with plenty of sunshine. The dry weather lasts through the rest of the week, and as the week goes on, temperatures will warm up into the 80s. By the time we get into the weekend, we’ll see highs in the middle 80s.
As for rainfall, another front will approach from the northwest and give us chances for showers and storms starting on Sunday and lasting until the end of the extended forecast.

Any rain totals with this front, which we expect to stall out near our area, will be light. The rain is also spread out enough where flooding is not a concern.

The extra clouds do drive temperatures back down into the middle 70s for highs by early next week.
