OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – It was a pretty good day today around the region. There were some clouds around, and a few showers tried to make their way into the state, although they were mostly unsuccessful. A few showers could fall over the next few hours before ending, leaving partly cloudy skies in their wake. Lows tonight will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Tomorrow will be another nice day, with highs back into the mid-70s. The chance for showers is out of the forecast during most of the day as well, although it will return late tomorrow evening.
Today and tomorrow’s rain is due to a series of disturbances moving along a stationary front to our south. Rain chances will not be as high as they were a couple of days ago, generally in the 30-40% neighborhood during the upcoming weekend. A rumble or two of thunder is possible as well. Overall, any outdoor plans should be fine, but indoor alternatives will be a good idea. Highs will rise slightly during this time frame but will stay in the 70s through next Monday.
Later in the extended forecast, another storm system will march into the region, increasing the rain chances to 60% by Tuesday. Some of the storms that day could be on the strong side.
The Storm Prediction Center has already highlighted an area just a few miles to our northwest during the Monday/Tuesday timeframe. The Weather Prediction Center has already placed the area in a Level 1 out of 4 for the potential for flooding rain, something that we’ll be tracking for you as the forecast comes more into focus over the next few days. Highs will continue a slight warming trend and will be in the lower 80s.
