WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Patchy fog will once again drape across our area, which will cause some difficulties during the morning commute. If you run into fog this morning, make sure to slow down and use your low beams until you are completely out of the fog. Foggy conditions will dissipate later in the morning, and the rest of the day is shaping up to be absolutely beautiful. Mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70s will wrap up the week that has otherwise been active and rainy.
While conditions will be beautiful, today is also the start of a much drier pattern for our region. Several high-pressure centers will move in and out of the Great Lakes, which will be the cause of this drier pattern. The latest Drought Monitor update still has a majority of the viewing area in a severe drought, so these conditions will impact crops and gardens negatively. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest details:
This weekend will be mostly dry, but there is a very slight chance of rain. The northern and western sections of our region will be out of luck, but the southeastern quarter may get a stray shower Saturday afternoon. While high pressure will be approaching from the north, there is the possibility for a stray storm to sneak into Mercer or Monroe counties. This would happen in the afternoon and dissipate by evening. Unfortunately, the rain would not be very impactful when and if it comes through.
After this tiny chance passes by on Saturday, the rest of the weekend will be bone dry. It will be wonderful weather to be outside in, you’ll just need sun protection and plenty of water if you plan on enjoying the outdoors. Unfortunately, these conditions will not be conducive to drought recovery. The entire StormWatch 4 Team probably sounds like a broken record regarding the drought, but the situation is unfortunately true for those tending to gardens and farmland.

The next week of weather starts with another fleeting opportunity for rain. The chances for Monday are actually going up, which is good news, but is still on the lower side for now. A few showers may wander into the southern half of the region, dropping a light, seeping rain. These showers would occur in the afternoon before dissipating in the evening. After this chance passes by, we are once again staying dry for most of the week. Temperatures stay mild, so we will be very comfortable through this pattern. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
