The Dry Streak Continues

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Another brisk morning is in our sights. As a result, a Frost Advisory is in effect until 10 AM for western Fayette, McDowell, western Nicholas, western Raleigh, and Wyoming counties. A Freeze Warning is also in effect for southeastern Pocahontas county until 10 AM. After these advisories and warnings expire, temperatures will steadily increase this afternoon. The peak of today’s warmth is in the upper 60s, but we will only get warmer as the week continues. Remember, the fire risk is still elevated, so please avoid any kind of burning and dispose of flammable materials properly. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

Temperatures continue to increase through the week, ending up in the mid-70s by Friday afternoon. Skies will remain mostly sunny tomorrow, making for a wonderful spring day to end off this dry week. On Saturday, there is a very slight chance for a couple of drizzles to move through early in the day. However, all impactful rain will dissipate well before reaching our area. We have not put a percentage on this chance due to how little it will affect us, but it is not being ruled out either. After a more moderate day (although I’d consider 70 degrees and mostly sunny a perfect day), temperatures continue to increase through the weekend.

The crux of this increase is yet to come, however, as even warmer temperatures are expected for next week. The first half of the week will bring temperatures in the 80s for the first time in a while, and dry conditions remain. This means that we’ll be feeling more summer-like and fire risk will continue to be elevated due to warm, dry, and potentially breezy conditions. This warm streak will continue through the rest of next week:

Speaking of next week, I already mentioned it would be dry. There is a very slight kink in that, as there will be another chance of a drizzle on Monday due to activity out west dissipating as it moves into the eastern third of the country. Regardless of if we get a drizzle or not, it won’t change the fact that we’ll be drier than average for this time of the year. It is best to avoid burning in any fashion as we move into next week. Also, sunscreen will be necessary for those outside for an extended time. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
