The Cooldown Begins; Scattered Showers Come and Go

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): After a stormy day yesterday, this morning will be a calmer and cooler start. Lingering showers are possible early in the morning, but will dissipate and fully dry out by the early afternoon. Any showers will bring light rainfall, so an umbrella or light rain jacket will be sufficient. Temperatures will remain in the low to mid-50s for most of the day, so you’ll want a light jacket or hoodie through the day. While some rain may fall this morning, today will be much calmer than yesterday. Meteorologist Christian Boteler dives into the details:

Scattered showers and cooler temperatures will continue tomorrow and Saturday. Frost Advisories and Freeze Warning will be issued from 1 AM to 9 AM on Friday due to cold temperatures. If you have sensitive plants, be sure to protect them. A small group of showers will pop in on Friday, followed by a low-pressure system to our south on Saturday. While the situations are different, the results will be mostly the same. Light rain is expected with not much else happening. Temperatures remain in the 50-60 degree range for the rest of the week, which results in a lack of thunderstorms this weekend.

Conditions dry up on Sunday, but temperatures remain on the cooler side of things to end the weekend. Another frosty morning is expected, followed by a cool but mostly sunny day. Sunday will be the best day of the next week by default due to drier conditions and mostly sunny skies. Rain comes back early next week, so this is the time to get out and get yardwork done or to simply enjoy some calmer weather.

Next week, scattered showers return to the forecast. These chances fluctuate Monday and Tuesday, but any rain will be on the lighter side. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible each afternoon due to improving temperatures,  but any action will not be widespread. However, we will get another round of widespread activity in the middle of next week. Another cold front will move through the region between Wednesday and Thursday, bringing more much-needed rain with storms once again. There are uncertainties to iron out, but we are expecting another week of active weather. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
