Texas man sentenced to up to 15 years for felony burglary, destruction of property and domestic assault charges

Fayette County, WV(WOAY)- A Texas man has just been sentenced in Fayette County in connection with a domestic dispute.

According to court documents, on Monday, June 2, a Fayette County Circuit Court sentenced 29-year-old Cornelio A. Reyes of Terrell, Texas, to up to 15 years in prison for felony burglary, one year for destruction of property, and six months for domestic assault.

All sentences will run consecutively.

Reyes must serve at least one year and nine months before he’s eligible for parole.

The charges stem from an incident in June 2024 on Summerlee Road in Oak Hill.

Reyes, who was intoxicated at the time, was denied entry to a home where his children lived.

Police say he agreed to detox at Plateau Medical Center but left.

He returned to the scene, breaking in through the back door.

Once inside, he began arguing with occupants and damaged the home, causing fear for their safety.

The case was investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and prosecuted by Chief Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer D. Crane.
