Storms move in tonight, but drier conditions are on the horizon

We’re tracking storms moving in over the next several hours that could bring issues to flood-prone areas. In addition to the flash flood risk, some storms may produce strong winds capable of knocking down tree limbs or even power lines in isolated spots. Be sure to stay weather aware this evening.

Storms are expected to move through our area between 8 and 11 PM tonight, with a few lingering into the early morning hours as they track east-southeast. Some could be strong tonight, but the severe threat looks to ease a bit by Monday. That said, we can’t rule out a heavy rainmaker or two tomorrow, especially across southern parts of the region.

Looking ahead, things dry out nicely from Monday night through Thursday—great news if you’re ready for a break in the rain. However, as the skies clear, the temperatures will climb. Expect it to feel a bit steamy by the end of the week, with heat and humidity making for a sweaty stretch ahead.

Rain chances look to return by next Friday, and especially into Saturday and Sunday. We’ll keep a close eye on that forecast as it continues to evolve.
