Statewide “I Voted!” Sticker Contest Winner to be announced on March 11 during National Civic Learning Week

Charleston, WV (WOAY) West Virginia students are making their mark in a big way

On Wednesday, March 11, Secretary of State Kris Warner will host a press conference to announce the statewide winner of West Virginia’s very first “I Voted!” Sticker contest.

The contest, which kicked off in December, invited any eighth-grade student from a public, private, charter, or home school to submit an original sticker design.

More than 1,100 students from 42 counties entered, with each county selecting a first-place winner.

Those winners advanced to four regional contests, and from there, online voting determined the statewide winner, with nearly 16,000 votes cast.

The announcement will take place during National Civic Learning Week in the Chamber of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals at the state capitol.

Secretary Warner, along with all four regional winners, will be on hand to celebrate the creative students and their designs.

Earlier in the day, the WV Civics Coalition will host a “civic learning for a stronger West Virginia” forum in the same chamber, featuring keynote remarks from Secretary Warner and a chance for participants to explore voting machines.
