Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – A West Virginia National Guard member is making extraordinary progress after being shot in the head more than two weeks ago in Washington D.C.
Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe is breathing on his own and can stand with assistance. In a Facebook post, his mother said that he is now able to speak. Wolfe has been moved from the ICU to rehab.
His parents have praised the medical staff’s care, adding that doctors told them their son’s progress is “miraculous.”
Wolfe and fellow guard member Sarah Beckstrom were shot the day before Thanksgiving. Beckstrom later died from her wounds.
