Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – Governor Patrick Morrisey held a press conference at Winterplace Ski Resort on Monday, highlighting West Virginia’s winter tourism industry.

Governor Morrisey said all five of West Virginia’s ski resorts are open. Those resorts help carry West Virginia’s 9.1 billion dollar tourism industry through the winter.
According to Governor Morrisey, West Virginia’s tourism industry creates 61,000 jobs yearly.

Winterplace Ski Resort has been open for two weekends now.

General Manager Josh Faber said that the weather has been extremely helpful in getting the resort up and running.

He said a lot of Winterplace’s skiers are from out of state, and he appreciates the state’s emphasis on tourism.
