Spring Break Pattern, Increasing Brush Fire Risk; Stratosphere News

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The warm sunshine, breeze and low humidity will be factors in a higher risk for the development of brush fires this week.

OVERALL PATTERN: A high pressure will ensure we are warm and dry this week, while rain returns this weekend ahead of what will become a very strong Plains storm. There will likely be ponding of water in spots, but not a widespread flooding event with damage and road closures (like we saw in mid-February).

BRUSH FIRE RISK: Very low humidity, warm temperatures and a breezy Southwest wind will contribute to a higher risk for the development and spread of brush fires Tuesday and Wednesday. Remember the Spring Burn Ban continues for the entire state through most of the spring season.

STRATOSPHERE NEWS: A dramatic and likely final Stratospheric Warming Event occurred today. There are no signs it will impact our weather in the near-term, but there are signs for a colder regime at the end of March to early April.
