Southern West Virginia reflects on 2025, shares their 2026 hopes

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – As we said goodbye to 2025, what were the defining moments of your year and what are you most looking forward to in 2026?

Country Baby Soapery had a whirlwind 2025.

“Our family grew, we have a new daughter-in-law; my son got married, and our business grew,” said Owner/Creator Jennifer Kiblinger. “We joined Tamarack and Adventures on the Gorge.”

2025 was all about the new people Janet Albaugh met at school.

“And the new people coming from different counties,” the Beckley resident said. “Since I just got into middle school, I met a bunch of people and stuff. So I think that’s the best thing about this year.”

Opening in Princeton was a great experience and an opportunity to grow for Dabs Country Cookin’.

“In 2025, we signed a lease on a new space,” said Owner Antoinette Barnes. “So 2026 is exciting for us because we are now opening at Mercer Mall in Bluefield, WV. If you come to that area (stop in). Happy New Year.”

Her precious three-month-old son was born in 2025. She says Mikey has club feet.

“In 2026, I’m looking forward to him walking,” Crab Orchard’s Olivia Hutchins says. “They said nine months we’re gonna try to get him moving, and now he’s real strong. He’s doing great.”

According to Albaugh, she wants a better social life in 2026.

“Like I’m not very talkative, but I’m looking forward to being a lot more,” said the middle-schooler. “And I’m also looking forward to new teachers, which is really exciting.”

According to Kiblinger, Country Baby Soapery is excited to expand.

“And looking forward to what 2026 brings for us as a family and a business.”
