WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): We have now reached the peak of Solar Cycle 25 and will likely be in it for another year.
Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill explains:
KEY TAKEAWAYS: Solar Cycle 25 will remain at its peak for the next six months to a year. We can expect a higher frequency of Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights displays), a few of which will likely reach into southern West Virginia. These light displays often disrupt communications and GPS in the northern latitude.
A solar minimum will likely occur between 2030-2032 followed by the peak of the next solar cycle, 26, around 2035.
