Snow Keeps Falling; Wintery Week Ahead

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the entire region. These advisories will end at 9 PM for Fayette, McDowell, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, and Wyoming counties while ending at 1 AM tomorrow for Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Summers, and Tazewell counties.

Amounts between 1-3″ with locally higher accumulations are expected for areas to our far west and in some of the Greenbrier Valley while the rest of the region lands in the 3-5″ range.

Commutes will be impacted with slick roads, especially this evening as snow will have fallen through the day. The snow will dissipate slowly tonight, leaving us with a better day tomorrow. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

Partly cloudy skies last through Tuesday before the next round of winter weather passes through on Wednesday. Rainy conditions start us off as temperatures remain above freezing for the day, but snow comes back into the forecast as temperatures decrease in the evening. Snow will last until Thursday morning, making commutes Wednesday evening and Thursday morning particularly tricky. This will add on to the snow we get today, continuing the active weather trend across our region. Skies remain partly sunny on Thursday after snow leaves.

As if two days were not enough, Friday will introduce yet another chance of winter weather to end the work week. A system from the Midwest will likely bring snow into the area, but the amount and timing are more uncertain at this time. Expect more iffy commutes through the rest of the work week before snow leaves the forecast for more than a day starting Saturday afternoon. Skies will be partly sunny through the weekend after some lingering flurries, but temperatures will fall another 10 degrees. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
