OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – After a nice day today, we’re tracking some showers and storms that are coming into the area from Ohio and Kentucky this evening. The storms should arrive before sunrise. Before they get here, temperatures will fall off, winding up in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
The combination of timing and temperature, along with possibly some pre-squall line showers, should keep the severe threat for us to a minimum. But one or two of the storms that come into the area could be strong to severe.

If they do become severe, damaging winds will be the main threat, but large hail will also be a threat. Even sub-severe winds or hail could still cause some minor damage, so we’ll have to stay weather-aware tonight and tomorrow morning.
As the day goes on tomorrow, we’ll continue to see chances for showers and storms, and one or two of these might also be strong.

In fact, the Storm Prediction Center says there is a better chance for severe storms on Wednesday than there is tomorrow for our area, although there is some uncertainty about the extent of the severe storms.

Once again, any storms that do become severe will feature damaging winds. Temperatures tomorrow will be in the lower 70s, and on Wednesday, we’ll top out in the mid to upper 60s.
The front finally swings through the region on Wednesday night, and Thursday will feature the start of a cooler stretch of weather around the region. Highs will be in the 50s for several days running, and by the time we get to Sunday morning, some patchy frost will be possible, especially in higher elevation areas. Despite the cooldown, the weather remains active at first, with continued chances of rain into the weekend, though these will be more scattered than what we’ll see early this week. At the end of the forecast, we’ll see temperatures moderate a bit, and the sun will shine.
