Charleston, WV (WOAY)—The Secretary of State’s office announced over 1,440 new registered businesses statewide for March.
Doddridge, Clay, Calhoun, Monroe, and Wayne were the top five counties in new business growth for the month.
Kanawha, Monongalia, Berkeley, Raleigh, and Jefferson counties led the state in total businesses registered for March.
The secretary of state’s business and licensing division reports that West Virginia registered 13,680 new businesses statewide from April 1st, 2024, to March 31st, 2025.
Raleigh County is leading all 55 counties with a 19.34% growth rate during the one-year time span.
Of the 1,440 new business registrations, over 170 qualified for the Secretary of State’s office fee waiver program.
The Boots to Business and Young Entrepreneur programs waive the initial registration fee and up to four years of annual reporting fees.
