Scattered Showers Today; Record Warmth Tomorrow

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): We are experiencing yet another mild morning across the region with minimal cloud cover and no rain to speak of. However, a few scattered showers and possibly a couple of isolated thunderstorms will develop and move through the region this afternoon. These showers will be light, so there is no relief to be seen from the dry streak we have been through over the last week or so. Showers will dissipate this evening, leaving us with mostly clear skies and milder temperatures overnight.

Tomorrow, the warmth will be increasing yet again. Temperatures will peak at the mid-80s by tomorrow afternoon, possibly breaking records across our region. For example, Beckley’s previous record high for April 15th was 82 degrees back in 2012. Our forecasted high of 84 degrees would break that record, along with several others in the viewing area. With sunny skies and warm temperatures, make sure to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and take breaks if you are outside for extended periods. There will be some relief later this week before we cool down again. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

Thursday will be another beautiful day, but there is a blip in the forecast. The next chance of rainfall comes Thursday night into Friday morning as a group of showers and isolated storms moves through. There will not be enough rainfall to relieve us from the developing drought, but it will bring a slight decrease in temperatures on Friday. That drop is only by around 5 degrees, but it will make for better conditions to end our week on. Conditions will warm up again on Saturday with temperatures reaching the mid-80s ahead of the next cold front.

Showers and isolated thunderstorms will start to move into the region Saturday night, but will continue through Sunday instead of dissipating by the morning. This is thanks to the cold front that will finally punch through the Midwest on Saturday, bringing widespread rain and cooler temperatures. Rain will be widespread Sunday morning and afternoon, dissipating in the evening. By the end of the weekend, temperatures will fall by around 20 degrees. This means Monday will start on a cooler note, something the cold-weather lovers will appreciate. Here’s a look at the 7-Day Forecast:
