Oak Hill, WV (WOAY)- A retired law enforcement officer faces federal charges, accused of receiving and attempting to receive child pornography.
Federal agents arrested 55-year-old Kenneth Mccord in Charleston on Wednesday.
McCord has a long law enforcement career, with his most recent position being a senior investigator for the West Virginia Commission of Special Investigations.
Before that, he served over 20 years as a West Virginia State Police sergeant.
The 19-page Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) complaint states that around February 19, 2025, federal agents interviewed a mother regarding sexually explicit messages that she believed were exchanged between Mccord and her 15-year-old son.
The mother allowed authorities to search the family’s iPad, where they discovered iMessage conversations and Facetime calls between Mccord and the minor, suggesting they had been in contact since March 2024.
The complaint highlights over a dozen pages of sexually explicit text messages, video, and photo exchanges between the two.
McCord is currently in the custody of the United States Marshal Service.
