Deputy’s file charges against a man who nearly hit a child exiting a school bus in Kanawha County

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – A Kanawha County man is charged after allegedly passing a school bus and nearly hitting a child.

According to a post on the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, on Friday, March 14, 2025, Deputy’s obtained video evidence from a Kanawha County Schools of a white Lincoln sedan illegally passing a stopped Kanawha County school bus. The car nearly hit a child exiting the bus.

Deputies were able to identify the owner of the white, 2012 Lincoln MKS with a West Virginia license plate: “77R926” as 48-year-old Kevin W. Webster, of St. Albans.

On Friday March 21, 2025, deputies arrested and charged Webster with DUI as a habitual drug user, reckless driving, overtaking and passing a school bus, driving revoked for DUI and driving on a suspended license.

Kevin W. Webster was also arrested and charged with second offense DUI, driving while suspended or revoked for DUI and a seatbelt violation in Putnam County on March 15, 2025.

Webster is currently in the Western Regional Jail under a $10,000 bond for the Kanawha County arrest and a $10,000 bond for the Putnam County arrest.
