Real ID will be required at TSA on May 7th

The Department of Homeland Security will delay the deadline for air travelers to have a REAL ID another two years.

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- On Friday, the Transportation Security Administration, commonly known as TSA, announced that Real ID will officially be implemented nationwide.

On May 7th, TSA will no longer accept state-issued identifications that are not compliant with Real ID standards for those 18 and older. While your driver’s license is a proper form of ID, you have to make sure it is Real ID compliant.

However, there are other forms of identification that you can use that are compliant. There’s your passport or passport card, DHS Trusted Travelers cards like Global Entry, and others. You can visit the link below to view a full list of Real ID compliant forms of ID.

If you do not have a Real ID at a TSA checkpoint, you could face delays, extra screenings, and the possibility of not being permitted through security and missing your flight.
