BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The Raleigh County Prevention Coalition held a dedication this morning for its first Blessing Box on Third Avenue in Beckley.
The goal of this project is to allow the community to connect through basic needs items.
“The boxes are adopted by an organization or a business,” said Raleigh County Prevention Coalition President Dee Sizemore. “They’re stocked with basic need items like food and personal hygiene.”
Beckley Pride worked with the Coalition to sponsor the first box.
“We jumped at the opportunity,” said Beckley Pride President Christian Baisden. “When the Raleigh County Prevention Coalition decided to do this Blessing Box project and they said they needed sponsors, we didn’t hesitate. Within 24 hours, we had our approval from the board.”
The Coalition plans to install 13 more Blessing Boxes throughout Raleigh County.
