Raleigh County Deputy and State Trooper shot while executing a search warrant

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A Raleigh County Deputy and a West Virginia State Trooper was shot after executing a search warrant in Beckley.

According to a press release, On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, The Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team were executing a search warrant on Coal Street in Beckley.  During the execution of the warrant, a Sherrif’s Deputy and a WV State Police Trooper were shot.

Injuries to both the deputy and the trooper are non-life threatening, and both are being treated.

At this time, it appears that the shooting was accidental.

The incident is under investigation by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia State Police, and the Beckley City Police.

No other information is being released at this time.
