WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Widespread showers are moving through the region. Heavier rain is falling in the western counties, but the rain will be beneficial no matter where you are located. This system is bringing in the best rain we have seen in a bit, which will help our region recover a bit from the ongoing drought. These showers will leave in the afternoon, but will have our communities with anywhere from a quarter of an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain. Skies will remain mostly cloudy through the day before becoming mostly clear overnight. More rain is coming up this week, so you will need to keep the umbrella accessible. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Tomorrow will be a dry and mild day thanks to high pressure moving into the region. While the high pressure’s stay will be brief, it will result in a wonderful day. Mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 60s means perfect conditions for outdoor activities. However, you should avoid burning in any form due to the drier conditions. Despite the rain coming down today, we are still quite dry compared to what is normal for the season.
Rain will return Wednesday around noon in the form of showers and thunderstorms. This next low-pressure system will continue to bring storms and showers into the region through the day. A couple of storms could be on the stronger side, but the only threat at this time would be gusty winds. Showers will die down Wednesday night and dissipate before sunrise the next day. The rainfall will once again be beneficial, but will immediately be followed by drier days ahead. Severe drought will likely linger in parts of, if not all of, the region later this week. The upcoming dry streak is a great example of the saying “one step forward, two steps back”.

Thursday and Friday will be dry with recovering temperatures through the second half of the week. Thursday will stay a bit cooler, but temperatures return to nearly 70 degrees by the end of the week. Skies will remain mostly sunny with little to no relief from drought conditions coming up. Conditions will continue to stay nice through the weekend aside from a slight kink in the weekend forecast. There is a slight chance of rain on Saturday, but models have been inconsistent regarding that chance this weekend. Any inkling of rain disappears on Sunday, which is not good news for those tending gardens or fields. Here’s the latest 7-Day Forecast:
