WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): As you may have expected, fog is affecting the morning commute once again. Remember to drive slowly and use your low beams when driving within dense fog. By 10 AM, most of the fog will be burned up by the sun. However, the fog is not our only concern for the day. Skies will remain partly sunny until more showers and storms develop this afternoon.
These will remain broken up across the area, giving areas breaks from the rain at different times. Regardless of any brief breaks in the rain, minor flooding may be an issue for the region today. Areas that are vulnerable to flooding or have already dealt with issues this week are most at risk, especially if one or multiple downpours move through the region. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest details:
If you have had enough of the rain, this will not be your best week. Showers will dissipate a bit overnight, but return Thursday morning and afternoon. The stationary front that we have been dealing with will be to our south, but that does not stop it from influencing our weather one more time before leaving later in the day. Storms should remain sub-severe, but a gusty storm or two is not out of the question. Once again, the region has been given a marginal chance for excessive rainfall by the Weather Prediction Center. This equates to a continued threat for localized flooding across the region.
The rain will continue to fall at the end of the work week. Right after the stationary front finally leaves, a new cold front will approach the region from the Midwest. This front will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening. Plenty of moisture will be available, which has prompted the WPC to place a “slight” risk of excessive rainfall across the region. This means that isolated downpours causing issues are expected. The front will push towards us on Friday, but will not pass through until Saturday.

Rainy conditions continue into the weekend. Saturday will carry the 80% rain chance from Friday as the cold front pushes through our region. Flooding continues to be a potential issue for the region as downpours are expected. By the time this front passes Saturday night, some communities may have exceeded 2 inches of rain for the week. Showers and storms linger through Sunday before rain chances finally fall heading into next week. A few stray showers are possible on Monday before we get a dry day on Tuesday.
